Pavilion & Recreation Ground

 The recreation ground in Cheveley is a well used facility by a number of residents and groups.

Unfortunately there is still a minority of dog owners who do not clear up the mess left by their pets. This irresponsible behaviour not only gives other responsible owners a bad name but it is socially irresponsible posing a health threat to humans.The Parish Council receives many complaints concerning this specific issue and at the Annual Parish Council meeting this May it was agreed that should this antisocial activity persist  then Cheveley Parish Council  would need to revise its current policy concerning dog control on the recreation ground.

Cheveley Parish Council is pleased to welcome Su Shaw as one of the Dog Liason volunteer(s) to assist in cleaning up dog foul left by irresponsible owners on the recreation ground. You will no doubt get to see Su with her shovel and bucket-the aim is to post the "weight" of the dog foul left on the recreation ground on a monthly basis in a prominent position to let people know just how great this problem really is! The pavilion has over the last 10 years not been used and has fallen into disuse and disrepair. The cost of keeping this facility "vacant" far outstrips the available funds and so at the Annual Parish Meeting in May this problem was a major topic of conversation.

As a direct consequence of that meeting Cheveley Parish Council welcomes the Cheveley Pavilion  Group as volunteers who wish to see that the pavilion and the recreation ground are more productively used by and for the community (for more information please refer to  News section). Over the coming months events, questionnaires and consultation exercises will appear in respect of options available and Cheveley Parish Council and the working group would encourage residents to get involved in this worthwhile exercise. It is hoped that with your assistance and forward planning and budgeting, Cheveley will have a fantastic community facility for all people to use and enjoy.
